You may have heard the term open listing used by people selling their homes. Open listings are used by people who wish to sell their homes, and do not want to exclusively work with one single real estate agent. With an open listing, the property seller can advertise their property with any agent that they want to, as well as how many they want to.
With an open listing, the estate agent has the right to bring potential buyer to view your home, and they will earn a commission if they sell it. As there is no exclusivity, however, the real estate agents typically do not work hard to advertise your property. If someone desires the exact type of home that you have to offer, then the agent till be happy to show it to them, but they do not keep it foremost in their minds.
